Thank you for coming to Mazuir Ross. I might have met you at a market or art event. I am also part of the #PDX3DPLAB here in Portland and attend events regularly. I take part in collaboration when available and do a lot of my own designs. I am very active on social media and you're welcome to follow me @mazuirross on Tumblr , Twitter or Facebook. I pay most attention to Instagram and Tumblr, in case you would like to interact on one of those mediums. As always, you're welcome to email me about anything at maz @ mazuirross.com. I'll respond within 24 hours.
I collaborate most with Atteronious, who I also teach design for 3D printing output, and you can view our joint operation at "Maz & Attero". My work tends to focus on organic shapes and/or mixing organic designs with geomtric work.
We have experience with CAD and freehand sculpting. Please include high detailed drawings with units in Millimeters, preferrably. Current rate for CAD/3D Printing Design service is $40 per project minimum with rate of $22/hr charged by quarter of an hour at a time.
If you already have a design in CAD or 3D format and just need help getting your file ready to print, it's the same rate. For direct to print troubleshooting please only send STL and OBJ file formats. For collaborative CAD design, please send file formats native to Autodesk software.
We prefer to only use environmentally safe materials in our printing process. Our most stocked filament is PLA and available in even specialty blends, such as Proto-Pasta's Carbon Fiber PLA and Stainless Steel PLA.
PLA is a plant based filament. Poly(lactic acid) or polylactide (PLA) is a biodegradable thermoplastic aliphatic polyester derived from renewable resources, such as corn starch (in the United States), tapioca roots, chips or starch (mostly in Asia), or sugarcane (in the rest of the world). View for more relevant information on PLA.
Other common materials we stock are HIPS(High Impact Polystyrene), Polyester(PETG), and Nylon. Our Nylon can be dyed to any color desired. The Polyester we use is somewhat transluscent when printed thin, slightly more flexible than PLA, and takes well to moderate heat exposure(example flourescent light bulb). HIPS is ideal for artists who would like to freehand paint pigment onto their work after printing.
Unfortunately due to our environmentally friendly mission, we do not offer printing in ABS. There are material chemists who are often creating new sustainable formulas with similar characteristics to ABS. You're welcome to discuss with us about printing your project in an alternative material. If you must use ABS for your project, we can help direct you to a local and reputable printer.
You are encouraged to submit your own design via STL file we can print. Print only projects are $20 minimum with $9/hr printing charge. We will and prefer to supply the filament needed for your projects. Customer supplied filament printing rate is $5/hr printing time and the same project minimum of $20. If you would like to supply your own filament we require running a test print first, if you provide a brand we do not normally stock. We stock HATCHBOX primarily and are testing new brands often. Please inquire before you make your filament purchase if possible. Email your STL file to mazandattero @ gmail.com for review and we'll respond within 24 hours during business days and within 48 hours during weekends.
Bulk printing projects are encouraged and allow us to provide reduced rates. For a quote on a bulk 3D printing project please email mazandattero @ gmail.com. We also accept printing projects for charity or trades. Please inquire about our currently available printing material options, as they change often. We also special order materials if needed.
We currently run two(2) RepRap Hbot Style 3D printers built and maintained by Atteronious. One machine has a build volume of 165mm x 155mm x 165mm and the bigger machine has a build volume of 300mm x 300mm x 275mm. Please inquire about printer status first if you have a RUSH project. We perform regular maintenance on our machines to maintain optimal print quality.
Welcoming all types of projects. Feel free to contact via email, you'll be responded to in the order received within 24 hours.
